Québec City, Plains of Abraham Battlefield Park
Entering Boulevard Laurier, the road becomes St. Louis Street when you continue East to Parc-des Champs-de-Bataille. Entering the park from the West end there are four sets of groups of three Carronades in each group (12), followed by a group of 10 guns of various calibres and another set of four groups of Carronades arranged in four groups of three, three, four and two (12). The SBML 32-pounder 17 quintaux en Carronades have a weight greater than 3,584 lbs. The guns are numbered in this list from the first gun on the left as you enter the half circle from the West to the last gun on the right at the East end.

No. 1. Cast Iron 68-pounder 36-cwt Smoothbore Muzzleloading Carronade with a Blomefield pattern breeching ring, weight 36-0-21 (4,053 lbs), mounted on a wood naval gun carriage. A cannon ball is cemented in the muzzle. 1st group of 3 guns.
The Carronade is a short smoothbore, cast iron cannon, which was used by the Royal Navy and first produced by the Carron Company, an ironworks in Falkirk, Scotland. It was used from the 1770s to the 1850s. Its main function was to serve as a powerful, short-range anti-ship and anti-crew weapon. While considered very successful early on, Carronades eventually disappeared as rifled naval artillery changed the shape of the shell and led to fewer and fewer close-range engagements.

1er groupe de 3 canons.Le Carronade est un canon court en fonte à alésage lisse, utilisé par la Royal Navy et d'abord produit par la Carron Company, une forge de Falkirk, en Écosse. Il a été utilisé des années 1770 aux années 1850. Sa fonction principale était de servir d'arme anti-navire et anti-équipage puissante à courte portée. Bien que considérée comme très réussie au début, les Carronades ont finalement disparu alors que l'artillerie navale rayée changeait la forme de l'obus et entraînait de moins en moins d'engagements à courte portée.

No. 20. Cast Iron 8-inch 22-cwt Smoothbore Muzzleloading Howitzer, weight 22-0-10 (2,474 lbs), maker and Serial No. TBC, mounted on a wood naval gun carriage. A cannon ball is cemented in the muzzle. The gun is stamped 1859. Six of these guns were allocated to Quebec.

No. 23. Cast Iron Smoothbore Muzzleloading Gun, heavily corroded. This gun is mounted on a wood naval gun carriage and has a cannon ball embedded in its muzzle. It was recovered from one of the wrecks of Sir Hovendon Walker’s Fleet which sank off Egg lsland in the Gulf of St Lawrence in 1711.

No. 24. Cast Iron Smoothbore Muzzleloading Gun, heavily corroded. This gun is mounted on a 24-pounder iron garrison carriage and has a cannon ball embedded in its muzzle. The gun was recovered from the wreck of the French warship Prudent, which was captured and burned by the British in June 1758 during the siege of Louisbourg. Twenty guns like this one from Prudent and other French ships sunk during the siege, were raised in 1899.

garnison en fer de 24 livres et a une boule de canon encastrée dans sa bouche. L'arme a été récupérée de l'épave du navire
de guerre français Prudent, qui a été capturé et brûlé par les Britanniques en juin 1758 lors du siège de Louisbourg.
Vingt canons comme celui-ci de Prudent et d'autres navires français coulés pendant le siège ont été

Seven German cannon captured during the First World War were on display in separate locations on the grounds of the Plains of Abraham Battlefield Park. In 2021, these cannon were moved to a single location in front of the Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury. From right to left the include a15-cm sFH 02, 21-cm Morser 1910, 10-cm K 17 with a blown barrel, 10.5-cm leFH 16, 7.7-cm FK 96, 7.7-cm FK 16, and 10.5-cm FH 98/09.
