U.S. Army Air Corps Douglas B-18 test aircraft, 3rd Attack Group, Barksdale Field, Louisiana, 5 Nov 1941.  The B-18 was used to test an airfoil (NACA 0012) which was mounted just forward of the vertical stabilizer. The purpose of this test was to conduct boundary-layer and profile-drag tests in which Reynolds Number and angle of attack were varied independently.

Douglas AD-4NA Skyraider (BuNos. 126986 and 127002) of Attack Squadron VA-822, U.S. Naval Air Reserve Unit Louisiana.  They were flying near Pecan Island in the Gulf of Mexico to drop fuel and cannon fire on a blowout gas well in an attempt to set it afire as a hazard to shipping.  The pilots were LCDR Joel Morris, USNR, Commanding Officer of VA-822 and LCDR Harold Wheelahan, ca 1950s.

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress (Serial No. 44-83884), “Miss Liberty", D.  This aircraft was completed in July 1945 by the Douglas Aircraft Company under contract with the Boeing Company.  Initially assigned to the USAAF, it was transferred to the US Navy (BuNo. 77244) and designated as a PB-1W submarine hunter, serving from 1945 to 1956.  From 1960 until 1977 it served as a firebomber (Air Tanker No. 19) with the Aero Union Corporation in California.  It was flown to Barksdale on 11 April 1978.  It was painted as “Yankee Doodle II” before becoming “Miss Liberty”.

Douglas A-26C Invader (Serial No. 44-35937), L.  This A-26C-50-DT (converted to B-26C) was operated at one time by the 2347th ARFC (Air Reservist) out of Long Beach Municipal Airport, California.  It was with this group on 8 October 1955 when the ship was damaged during take-off due to a structural failure at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; John F. McCormick was the Pilot in Command.  The ship went to Chile and converted to a B-26D in 1958 as (Serial No. 846).  She subsequently became a gate guard at El Bosque AB, Santiago until she was removed from that mission and returned to the US.

Boeing B-17E Flying Fortress (Serial No. 41-9032).  Built at Boeing Seattle as B-17E. Assigned to 342nd Bomb Squadron and named "My Gal Sal." During a ferry flight on 27 June 1942, crash landed in Greenland. All crew members survived and were rescued ten days later. Wreck discovered in 1964. Salvaged in the 1990s by Gary Larkins and stored at Tillamook Air Museum. Purchased by Bob Ready. Restoration began in 2000.  In 2013 transported to National World War II Museum for display.

General Motors TBM-3 Avenger (BuNo.).  This aircraft is depicted as Lt. (jg) Thomas C. Lupo’s Avenger at the Battle of Samar, the “Bayou Bomber.”  Flying from the USS Fanshaw Bay, Lupo made repeated attack runs on the IJN Yamato, one of the largest battleships in history.  After Lupo expended all of his ammunition, he continued making runs on Yamato, throwing a Coke bottle and other loose articles from his aircraft at the ship’s bridge trying to distract the Yamato from its attack on U.S. ships. The actions of Lt. Lupo, a number of other pilots, and a heavily outgunned group of U.S. Navy destroyers blunted an attack by a formidable Japanese naval force and saved the large U.S. force that was landing in the Philippines to dislodge Japanese occupiers.
