de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito NF Mk. II (Serial No. DD750), sometime before March 1943. DD750 was lost during the Second World War. The crew was comprised of the pilot 656008 Sergeant John Hudson Staples RAFVR. and his Observer 1576326 Sergeant Ralph Ernest Andrews, RAFVR. The crew were members of No. 25 (F) Squadron based at R.A.F. Station Church Fenton, Yorkshire. The squadron code was ZK.

On the 22nd of March, 1943, the crew were returning from to Church Fenton after the Night Ranger they had set out to fly was cancelled. They and two other Mosquito crews had been deployed to RAF Station Coltishall, Norfolk where it was used as a forward operating base at the time. As they approached Church Fenton, the ill-fated crew radioed the station to let them know they were preparing to land. They were ordered to delay the landing and wait for their turn. They were then vectored to a holding pattern situated over high terrain and also given the wrong altitude to orbit. Sadly, the Mosquito struck the top of an escarpment at Wingate Nick and somersaulted onto the moor behind, spreading wreckage over a wide area and coming to rest against a stone wall. de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito prototype (Serial No. W4050), de Havilland Aircraft Museum at London Colney close to the location it was built.  First Mosquito built, it made its first flight on 25 Nov 1940.  It is painted as (Serial No. W4050) on the port side but has the test serial registration (Serial No. E-0234) on the starboard side.  This aircraft received the Engineering Heritage Award from the Institution of Mechanical Enginers in 2017.

de Havilland Mosquito NF.II (Serial No. HJ711), "Spirit of Val".  This aircraft is a composite airframe and was on display during restoration at the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington.  HJ711 has moved to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (LAHC), at East Kirby.  The aircraft's engines have been  brought to running order, with plans to bring the aircraft to ground-running status.
